Invitations to Charity

Handmade Invitations

Every once in a while my wife surprises me with her craftiness.  Wednesday night she returned from Archiver’s with cardstock, decorative paper, matching envelopes, labels and a few other supplies and proceeded to make a stack of baby-shower invitations.  I thought they came out really nice so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few shots before they were sent off.  Now granted these are slightly more expensive than your average pack of invitations but they are one of a kind and really personable.  It’s the little details that count.

Knowing how fast life moves along, take a moment to think back to 12 January 2010, when a 7.0 magnitude earthquake slammed the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation.  Well, this month Alissa and I have had the opportunity to donate our talents to a really great cause.  Neva’s Global Orphan event is being hosted at Kaw Prairie Community Church on Saturday, June 19 at 3PM.  A benefit concert, talent show and silent auction are going to help raise $5000.00 to build a home for 10 children in Haiti.  Haiti suffered massive damage to its infrastructure and serious loss of life.  As rebuilding continues, the Global Orphan Project and the people of Haiti should be thankful for people in this world like Neva, a 9 year old girl from Kansas City, for her selfless service and efforts to improve their quality of life.

Together, Alissa and I have pledged a 10″ custom layer cake and an on-location photo session.  We are both excited to have this opportunity and look forward to meeting the lucky winners.  Speaking of cakes, here’s a little something to make you hungry.
